Two people injured in Clermont County motorcycle crash

BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -- Two people were taken to the hospital after motorcycle crash that occurred on State Route 222 in Batavia Township Saturday morning.

A short time after 9:00am The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a report of an accident on State Route 222 at Union Chapel Road.

The preliminary investigation reveals that 51-year-old Gary Hodge was driving a motorcycle north on SR 222 when he was struck head on by 79-year-old Bobby McCormick who was turning his vehicle left onto Union Chapel Road for SR 222.

Hodge was ejected from his motorcycle. Officials say he was transported to University Hospital by helicopter for his injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

McCormick was not injured in the crash, but his passenger, 66-year-old Shirley Riddle was transported to Anderson Mercy Hospital for her injuries.

The crash is still under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
