Car accident involving Colerain Police cruiser

COLERAIN, OH (FOX19) -- A Colerain Township Police officer responding to a call is involved in an accident Saturday afternoon.

A short time before 3:30pm, Colerain Township Police officer Joe Carter was responding to a domestic stabbing incident at the Ashley Woods Apartment Complex. Officer carter was in emergency mode with his lights flashing and siren while traveling north on Pippen Road.

At the intersection of Pippen Road and Washington Avenue, a 2002 Hyundai Accent pulled out from a stop sign onto Pippen Road an stuck the passenger side of the cruiser. After the collision, the cruiser struck a nearby fence and ended up in a roadside ditch.

Officer Carter and the driver of the Accent, 18-year-old Miriah McDonald, were not injured in the crash.

McDonald was cited for Failure to Yield to a Public Safety Vehicle.

The domestic Stabbing incident at the Ashley Woods Apartment Complex was handled by other police units and was determined to be minor in nature. Domestic violence charges are being filed in that incident.
