SPRING GROVE VILLAGE, OH (FOX19) - No charges have been filed in a hit and run Monday afternoon that killed a pedestrian. According to police, Vernon Hobbs, 50, of College Hill surrendered to investigators late Monday.
Police still have not been able to identify the woman who was killed in that crash. She's described as an elderly black female approximately 60 to 80 years old. She's believed to be from the Spring Grove Village area.
The accident occurred just before 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon on Winton Road at Circle Village.
According to police, Hobbs was driving black Honda Civic north on Winton Road. Police say he hit a car exiting a driveway driven by 45-year-old John Haas. After crashing into Haas '96 Honda, Hobbs hit a fire hydrant, then a trailer before hitting the pedestrian.
Moments before the accident, the Honda Civic was reported stolen. However, police say the Civic had no signs of being stolen.
"People get out here on these streets and they ride around, they are not paying no attention, they just don't--I just, I feel bad. I can't believe someone just died right here where I live," said witness Nicole Hampton.
If you have any information on the identity of the woman killed in this accident, you are asked to call the Cincinnati Police Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
