CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A man has pled guilty to beating a homeless man to near death.

Michael Taylor, also known as "Madness," was in court Tuesday and pled guilty to a lesser charge of aggravated assault. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Taylor was originally charged with felonious assault for the beating of Robert Meehan, 56, in January. Police say Meehan was slammed to the ground, punch and hit on the head with a beer bottle.

The assault occurred in front of the former Bootsy's restaurant on Walnut Street. With the help of witnesses and surveillance footage, police was able to identify Taylor.

Taylor spent a few weeks on the run before he was finally tracked down near Las Vegas staying with relatives.
