It was a tale of two halves on Friday night in Independence as the Simon Kenton Pioneers rallied past the Boone County Rebels, 48-27.

Simon Kenton (6-2, 3-1) scored 28 unanswered points down the stretch on their way to victory. Quarterback Chad Lawrence, who became the school's all-time leading passer on the night, threw for 313 yards and four scores and added another 121 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in the win.

Boone County (3-5, 1-3) led 20-6 and took a 27-20 lead in to the fourth quarter, but they couldn't hold on. Senior running back Jordan Oppenheimer scored three times in the loss for the Rebels.

District play concludes next week with Simon Kenton hosting Campbell County and Boone County taking on Ryle.
