CPS discusses progress with Green Schools Initiative

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -- Cincinnati Public schools will hold a press conference on Thursday morning at the North Avondale Montessori School to talk about their progress making sure that their schools are environmentally friendly.

The district is celebrating its third anniversary of a resolution passed by the Cincinnati Board of Education. It calls for alls schools in Segment 3 of its Facilities Master Plan to be rebuild or renovated according to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design ( LEED) Silver Standards.

At the 9:30a.m. meeting, school officials will share new initiatives and partnerships to ensure that students are learning in a green friendly and healthy environment.

During the press conference, students will measure levels of ultrafine particles to test the indoor and outdoor air quality and visitors will be able to tour the vegetative roof system that helps manage storm water runoff in an environmentally friendly way.
