The top-ranked Colerain Cardinals won their 57th straight home game and moved to 9-0 on the season with a convincing 45-7 over the Sycamore Aviators on Friday night at Cardinal Stadium.
Colerain (9-0, 6-0) tallied 401 total yards of offense, including 371 on the ground. Senior quarterback Tyler Williams accounted for 143 of the team's rushing yards on just 14 carries. He rushed for touchdowns and added two more passing scores in the route.
Sophomore Chris Davis continued to show flashes of brilliance as he picked 98 total yards on just four touches and caught a touchdown in the process.
The Cardinals defense was equally impressive, yielding just 2.0 yards per carry while holding the fifth opponent of the season to a touchdown or less.
Sycamore (5-4, 3-3) got a score early when quarterback Joey Bruscato punched one in from two yards out to knot the score at 7-7 with 3:43 to go in the first quarter. However, Colerain would answer with a pair of scores of their own within the next two minutes and never look back. Bruscato finished with 27 yards on 19 carries and completed five of his 13 passes for 51 yards in the loss.
Colerain goes for an undefeated season and at least as share of the GMC championship next week as they host Oak Hills. Sycamore will look to secure a winning season as they host Mason.
