Update: man admits to shooting another in the head in Reading

READING, OH (FOX19) - A man was arrested after he admitted to accidentally shooting another man in the head in a Reading apartment early Sunday morning.

Police were called to the apartments on Aljoy Ct. in Reading to the reports of a person shot. When police arrived at the scene, they found 21-year-old Aaron Pugh shot in the head according to police reports.

He was transported to University Hospital with life-threatening injuries and is listed in critical condition.Police say after interviewing the witnesses and comparing stories to the crime scene, they became suspicious of the witnesses stories.

After police conducted several follow-up interviews, one person who was originally in the apartment, 22-year-old Nicholas Stinespring, voluntarily came forward and admitted that he accidentally shot the victim in the head while he was displaying the firearm.

A police report says that Stinespring then hid the gun in a wooded area behind the apartment.

Nicholas Stinespring is now charged with Felonious Assault and Tampering with Evidence. He is currently being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center.
