CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Cincinnati police are calling the death of a University of Cincinnati student early Saturday morning a tragic accident.

Andrew Howell, a French horn player who was studying at the College-Conservatory of Music, was found after falling from the roof of a small apartment building on Ohio Avenue near campus.  Police were called to the scene around 3:00 a.m. Saturday.

According to police, Howell and a friend went on the roof of their residence for the view of the city. The friend went back inside, but realized Andrew did not follow him back inside.

Howell's friend then went back onto the roof and found him in the yard unconscious. His friends tried to revive him with CPR and called 911. Howell was taken to University Hospital where he died.

Police say the victim slipped and it appears to be a tragic accident.

His family in Charlotte, North Carolina has been notified of the incident.

The death brought an immediate outpouring of regrets on the Facebook page for the French horn department at CCM.

An officer from the Cincinnati Police Homicide Unit is investigating the death.  The police have not said how they think the fall happened.
