CINCINNATI (FOX 19) -- Monday Xavier University released that freshman Justin Martin will not be able to play or travel with the men's basketball team this season.

The NCAA ruled that Martin is a partial qualifier. He will be allowed to practice and keep his scholarship.

In a released statement from Muskies Athletics, head coach Chris Mack says, "I'm disappointed with the NCAA's recent decision on Justin's initial eligibility. Though I feel the decision is the wrong one, we will move forward, as will Justin, and look forward to his contributions on game night one year from now."

Martin played at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis then at Mountain State Academy in West Virginia.

According to the release from Xavier, "The loss of Martin leaves Mack with only 10 scholarship players eligible for games this season. Xavier lost junior guard Brad Redford to a season-ending knee injury over the weekend. Would-be junior guard Jordan Crawford wound up a first round NBA Draft choice and is now playing for the Atlanta Hawks."
