Great Wolf Lodge evacuates during storm

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Guests staying at the Great Wolf Lodge in Mason had to be evacuated from the pool and hotel rooms during the severe weather.

Guests gathered in a designated safe zone when the storms hit -- the zones are long halls on the ground level of the hotel with no outside windows.

Guests were told to head to those safe zones over the loud speaker, and staff made sure everyone got the message and was accounted for.

"We go through and we knock on guests doors to alert them for anyone that may not have heard the loud speaker announcement, we do alert them as well to let them know that we do have a severe weather alert in the area," said Jason Arthur of Great Wolf Lodge.

Guests were allowed to return back to their hotel rooms after about 20 minutes.

Staff at Great Wolf Lodge say they practice these safety drill more than twice a year, and everything went smoothly for the real thing.
