SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Students at Sycamore High School are wearing red Thursday in honor of a classmate who died at swim practice earlier this week.
Jose Cerda-Navarro, 18, died Tuesday while he was practicing with the Cincinnati Marlins at St. Xavier High School.
Coaches say Cerda-Navarro was struggling in the water before he collapsed outside the pool. The Hamilton County Coroner will determine a cause of death.
Cerda-Navarro was a member of Sycamore's water polo and swimming teams. His classmates say he was a great guy and will be dearly missed.
"Just a few days ago he was posting on Facebook about getting his college applications out," said Brandon Buka, a friend.
