FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 28, 2010) – Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, Staff Sgt. Kenneth K. McAninch, 28, of Logansport, Ind., died Oct. 21 at Yahya Khel district, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
Funeral services for Staff Sgt. Kenneth K. McAninch will be held on Oct. 29 at 10:30 a.m. Eastern time at First Assembly of God in Logansport, Ind. Burial services will immediately follow at Ever-Rest Memorial Park in Logansport. Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day.
