HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) – One person was taken into custody after an apartment fire in Hamilton Saturday evening.

Paul Cottrell, 56, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Arson and Burglary.

Hamilton fire crews were called to the 900 block of Campbell Avenue for a report of a fire in the second floor apartment at around 8:00 pm Saturday. The fire was contained to the kitchen area, but there was extensive heat damage throughout the apartment. Damage is estimated to be at $40,000.

The fire was ruled suspicious and Cottrell was arrested in connection with the incident. Cottrell was previously identified as a suspect in another burglary on Campbell Ave, so he was also charged with an additional Burglary, Theft, and Assault charge.

No one was injured in the fire and Red Cross is assisting the only Occupant of the apartment.
