CINCINNATI (AP) - A woman who died after being run over by a police cruiser in a Cincinnati park will be remembered there with a memorial tree.
The city plans to place a tag on the tree that will say "In Memory and Celebration of the Life of Joann Burton" and "Her Spirit is Free."
A memo from City Manager Milton Dohoney notes that city parks officials are "very sympathetic" toward Burton's death.
The 48-year-old woman was sleeping under blankets on the grass when an officer patrolling Washington Park drove over her on July 27. She died shortly after arriving at a hospital.
Prosecutors determined that no crime was committed, so no charges were filed.
