CORRYVILLE, OH (FOX19) - Investigators say a student mixing chemicals caused a small explosion and evacuation at the University of Cincinnati on Wednesday.
Emergency crews say the student was mixing the chemicals around 12:30 p.m. in a fume hood at the Engineering Research Center in the Uptown West section of UC's campus.
The chemicals had an unexpected reaction, and caused the glass in the fume hood to break.
The student pulled the fire alarm and the building was evacuated. HazMat crews arrived to make sure the building was safe from chemical fumes.
The student was taken to the hospital with minor injuries that were caused mostly by the glass break.
