We look ahead to this weekend's playoff match-ups in Division V, Region 20 of local interest…
games played on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
#8 Badin (5-5) at #1 Richmond North Union (10-0)
North Union has beaten just one team with a winning record the last seven weeks, those opponents were a combined 24-46. It is hard to get a measure of how good this squad is right now. One thing is for sure, Badin will play this game close the vest. The Rams lost three games by one-point and another by three. All five of their losses are to playoff teams in larger Divisions. Badin may be the best # 8 seed in the entire tournament.
#7 Summit Country Day (7-3) at #2 West Jefferson (10-0)
It has been a great year for Summit Country Day, who makes their first post-season appearance in a decade. The Knights get paired against a West Jefferson team with outstanding playoff pedigree. The Roughriders have been to five straight Week 11 games. The West Jeff experience and home crowd could be the right ingredients to stir up a big first-half outburst that could prove to be the difference in the game.
#6 East Clinton (8-2) at #3 CHCA (7-3)
Right now CHCA is oozing with confidence on offense. The Eagles rushing attack and passing attack are providing the team the proper balance that makes Eric Taylor teams so tough to defend. East Clinton cruised through a weak SBC schedule, ripping off eight wins sandwiched between bookend losses to Waynesville and Clinton-Massie. The Astros will need big plays from their special team and defense in order to keep this one close.
