The Highlands Bluebirds were coming off their first loss since 2008, but they wasted no time of disposing of Woodford County and starting a new streak with a 70-8 victory.

Highlands (10-1) defense put the first 14 points on the board as Carter New and Drake Bruns each came up with a pick-six in the first quarter. Jake True added a pair of touchdowns and the Bluebirds raced out to a 28-0 lead by quarter's end and never looked back.

Quarterback Patrick Towles threw a pair of second-quarter touchdown passes to Jordan Steeter and Austin Sheehan to seal the deal. Towles finished with 127 yards on 4-of-4 passing before hitting the bench.

Highlands will play host to district rivals Dixie Heights next Friday night in second-round action.
