They are perhaps the most underrated group in Cincinnati high school football. but the McNicholas (9-2) defense is a force to be reckoned with. The Rockets held Dunbar to 119 yards of total offense in a 28-0 first round playoff win. It was their third shutout of the year and sixth time that they held an opponent to eight points or less.

McNick stuffed the run as the Wolverines were to just 50 yards on 23 attempts. The passing game did not fare much better against the Rockets, going 6-of-24 for 69 yards and interceptions by Dillon Stanfield and James Hunt.

Many players excelled for the Rockets on this night and several did it on both sides of the ball. Ryan Haynes led the team in rushing with 108 yards and had a sack on defense. Rob Rice had a fumble recovery and a rushing touchdown. Eric Ernst had 85 all-purpose yards and a receiving touchdown. Steady Matt Staubach ran and threw for a score. Michael Staderman had 1.5 sacks as the list could go on and on.

McNicholas gets a rematch with Roger Bacon (8-3) next Saturday who they beat in Week 7, 21-14.
