SPARTA, KY (FOX 19) - Construction at the Kentucky Speedway is on schedule. In preparation for the track's first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, 50,000 additional seats, camping and parking are all in the works.
The track is also moving pit road. The pits will be 200 feet closer to the grand stand. Track operators said the move is to get fans as close as possible to the action race day.
There isn't an official name or main sponsors for the races that will take place July 7-9. But track officials said an announcement is coming soon.
That weekend will start with the Camping World Truck Series, Nationwide Friday and the marquee event is a 400 mile Saturday night race.
There is also a new visitor's center/main office building under construction. That facility is expected to open by Jan. 2011.
