HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - Fox News has named Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones in it's Top 10 list of 'America's Toughest Immigration Sheriffs.'
Jones was ranked #7 out of 3,083 sheriffs in America.
Jones has been seeking an immigration law in Ohio similar to Arizona's. He even traveled to Arizona in May to get a first hand look at the state's law.
He made headlines again last month when he announced he wanted to sue the Mexican government, saying immigrants have cost Butler County hundreds of thousands of dollars in man hours, jail space and other costs. Sheriff Jones is currently looking for an attorney to take the case pro bono.
"I've often said I wish I could deport some Americans," he told FOX19 last month. "I don't need illegals coming here and committing crimes and pumping drugs into my community."
Maricopa County, Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio was #1 on the list.
FoxNews.com conducted an informal poll of immigration experts, think tanks and law enforcement organizations to compile the list.
"I appreciate that Fox News.com recognizes that my local efforts have a national impact on the issue of illegal immigration," said Jones.
