Weekend Watch: NKY 1A

We look ahead to this week's Class 1A playoff action of local interest in Kentucky.

Friday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Bellevue (5-6) at Beechwood (8-3)
Beechwood won 52-7 when these two teams met in Week 9 and figure to be a heavy favorite once again. Running back Cameron Vocke tallied 136 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns on just five carries in that contest and will be tough for Bellevue to handle once again. Noel Rash's crew has been spectacular in Class 1A action to this point of the season as they've gone 6-0 and outscored their opponents by a 318 to 34. Look for Beechwood to pick up an eighth straight victory as they win this one going away.

Walton-Verona (8-3) at Frankfort (8-3)
The Bearcats are enjoying their best season in their program's short history, which included the school's first-ever playoff win a week ago as they took Bracken County down 46-0. Walton-Verona gets it done on the ground. Senior running back Andrew Baumgartner, who ran for 122 yards and three touchdowns a week ago, will be the focal point of the Bearcats' attack once again. If they are going to pull off the upset they will need another big effort from its ground game. Frankfort enters the contest on the heels of a 47-0 win over Bishop Brossart and winners of six of their last seven games.
