The Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds continued their quest towards a Class 2A state championship as they took care of Christian Academy-Louisville at home, 51-21.

NewCath (10-2) got off to a slow start before finishing with 467 total yards of offense, including 380 yards rushing. Senior running back Chris Kelly scored three times and tallied 111 yards on 18 carries. Junior quarterback Brady Hightchew also ran for two touchdowns and 164 yards in the victory.

CAL (7-5) was limited to just 65 yards on the ground seven second-half points in the loss.

NCC now moves to face Holy Cross next week at home in the regional championship. They beat the Indians 28-14 on October 8th and have won seven straight games against their district foes.
