For the third straight year the Covington Catholic Colonels had their post-season hopes end at Johnson Central as they fell on the road Friday night, 41-28.

CovCath (6-6) kept it close early, but were outscored 27-7 after halftime in a losing effort. Quarterback Blake Bir completed 20-of-42 passes for 210 yards and a touchdown to senior wide receiver Alex Connelly, who pulled in 12 catches for 147 in a losing effort.

The Colonels had no answer for Johnson Central's (10-2) running game, led by J.J. Jude and his 465 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

Johnson Central is now set to face Highlands in next week's regional championship game.
