Cincinnati Schools kick-off recycling challenge

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Sunny Delight Beverages Co. (SDBC) and Keep Cincinnati Beautiful (KCB) are challenging Cincinnati students to reduce our waste stream by recycling at their schools.

SDBC is providing a grant that will provide single stream recycling dumpsters, supplied by Rumpke, for six Cincinnati schools to use in the "Bin It 2 Win It" recycling challenge.

The contest will start on Monday, Nov. 15 in honor of America Recycles Day and is expected to end in April.

KCB will provide participating schools with educational resources and programming to help promote successful recycling throughout the duration of the contest. Each month, the dumpster will be emptied, weighed, and documented.

In April, the schools with the highest amount recycled will receive monetary awards, and students from the first place school will receive a prize made from recycled materials.

The first dumpster will be delivered Monday at Chase Elementary.
