CINCINNATI (FOX 19) -- The Bengals announce several roster moves Tuesday, including the pick up of a kicker. Ohio State rookie Aaron Pettrey joins the Bengals. He was signed in April as a college free agent with Carolina.
Pettrey was waived by Carolina June 17 and picked up by Detroit June 30. According to the news release from the Cincinnati Bengals, Pettrey played in one preseason game and missed a 42-yard FGA and made one PAT. He was waived by the Lions in August.
Pettrey replaces another Buckeye, Mike Nugent, who went out with a season-ending knee injury Sunday in Indianapolis.
Aaron Pettrey is from Raceland, Ky., and was a four-year lettermen at Ohio State. He lead the Big Ten in 2009 in scoring, 72 points, and field goals, 14.
The Bengals also signed free agent offensive tackle, Kirk Chambers. He's in his sixth season in the NFL and played college at Standford. Chambers was with the Bills during the 2010 preseason and released in Sept.
On the practice squad, offensive tackle Andrew Gardner was picked up. This is his second season in the league out of Georgia Tech.
The Bengals (2-7) host Buffalo (1-8) Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
