Eastside fire labeled "suspicious"

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Several fire crews have put out a house fire on Eastern Avenue at McCullough, just down the street from the Precinct Restaurant in the East End.

The fire started shortly before 3 a.m. on Thursday morning at a vacant home, and then spread to the house next door.

Crews are saying that the fire is now out and that the properties have sustained heavy damage. The roof collapsed in the home in which the fire started and has been completely destroyed. The neighboring home is also heavily damaged.

Firefighters say they cannot yet confirm whether or not there were people inside either of the buildings, but no injuries are being reported at this time.

Since the house was vacant and its utilities were shut off, firefighters are calling the fire suspicious. A cause has not yet been determined.
