DAYTON, KY (FOX19) - Police are continuing to investigate the murder of a Dayton, Ky. mother.
Tai Pinkelton, 25, was found dead Sunday morning in the 400 block of Clay Street.
Dispatch got a call just before 2 a.m. about a domestic dispute. When police arrived, they found Pinkelton stabbed to death.
"We very seldom have ever had contact with the victim," says Lt. Mark Antrobus of the Dayton Police Department. "She was known in town by many of the residents as very polite, her children were well behaved, nobody is saying a negative word about her."
The suspect, Maurice Powell, was arrested a short time later by Cincinnati Police. Investigators say he is Pinkelton's boyfriend. He is currently being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center.
"We're all friends and family down here you know and this is very upsetting and very scary because you never know," says neighbor Anita Groessler. "It's just awful. I feel awful for her, for the family, her children and her family."
Pinkelton's 5-year-old daughter and 2-month-old son were in the apartment when police arrived. The 5-year-old helped lead police to Powell.
"The children were present at the home, and we believe right now that the five-year-old did witness this event, so that's one of the worst parts of this whole thing," says Antrobus.
The investigation is ongoing.
