CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Freestore Foodbank began its annual Thanksgiving meal distribution on Monday.
Needy families can pick up the meals at the Foodbank's Customer Connection Center on 112 East Liberty Street in Over-the-Rhine.
Meals are being distributed on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Each household receives a box of food containing canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned cranberry or pumpkin, stuffing or rice, onions, potatoes, apples, macaroni and cheese and a brownie mix or other dessert, a bag of produce and, depending on family size, a chicken, turkey or ham.
Freestore Foodbank expects to distribute over 700,000 pounds of food, enough to feed 20,000 families this holiday season.
Residents started lining up Monday morning around 2 a.m. to get their food.
The Freestore Foodbank has released the numbers from its first day of Thanksgiving food distribution, as follows:

- 6,923 people
- 3,691 children
- 95,422 pounds of food
