Malls aim to keep you safe during holiday shopping season

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Car break-ins, robberies and assaults are just some ways criminals can victimize you this holiday shopping season.

Local malls, including Kenwood Towne Center, are trying to protect you from thieves by reminding you to "look, take, hide."

It reminds shoppers to lock your car, take your keys and hide your belongings.  Those steps could ensure that expensive belongings in sight aren't taken.

There are also flyers inside retail shops with other tips and certain car models that are profiled, all in efforts to make the holiday shopping season a safe one.

"Its a reminder from them to lock their car, first of all," said Cindy Hart with Kenwood Towne Center. "But if they have something in the car to take if they can. If they can't take it, they need to hide it - out of sight out of mind. Those are just three very simple steps, everywhere they go to lock take and hide."

Police say to minimize your items you're carrying and travel in groups in dark parking lots.
