Final report: Fatal Lebanon fire was not a criminal act

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - The Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office has released its final report of a fire that two people and over 40 horses.

The fire broke out Dec. 5 in a barn at the Lebanon Raceway. Veteran groomers Ronnie Williams and James Edwards were killed in the fire.

On Wednesday, the Ohio State Fire Marshal released its final report, listing the the cause as undetermined and saying there was "no indication or evidence of a criminal act" found at the barn.

The Code Enforcement Bureau (CEB) found insufficient evidence to find that any violations of the Ohio Fire Code occurred that caused or contributed to the spread of the fire, or the occupancy of the structure at the time of the fire was inconsistent with the Ohio Fire Code.

Officials recommend that no criminal charges be filed.
