Louisville man gets 15 years for cyclist's death

LOUISVILLE, Ky (AP) - A Louisville, Ky., man who pleaded guilty to a series of charges in the death of a man who was participating in a triathlon has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

WAVE-TV reports that 27-year-old Kenneth Yates was sentenced Wednesday. He will be eligible for parole in 11 years.

Earlier this month, Yates pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter, driving drunk and a number of other charges after police say he hit 47-year-old John Carr last year.

According to police, Carr was cycling in E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park when Yates hit him from behind, then fled. Carr was declared dead at the scene of the accident.
