Der Dutchman restaurant to stay closed

WAYNESVILLE, OH (FOX19) - The Der Dutchman restaurant in Waynesville will not reopen after a fire damaged the building in October.

The company has decided the damage was far too much for them to recover the building.

The popular restaurant has been around for 12 years and the adjoining gift and furniture shop, Carlisle Gifts, will begin closing things down on Dec. 6.

The fire destroyed the kitchen and restrooms, there was also heavy smoke damage to the dining rooms and a part of the roof caved in. No one was injured.

The damage for the Oct. 13 was estimated at $1.2 million.
