Volunteers to explore old log house in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Dozens of volunteers will head to a 193-year-old log house in Columbus to search for pieces of Ohio history.

The Columbus Dispatch reports as many as 50 makeshift archaeological investigators next weekend will dig, dust and scavenge for clues to the Deardurff House's past. It's one of the oldest known structures in Franklin County still on its original foundation.

The house was built in 1807, just four years after Ohio became a state. Anne Lee is an investigator for Hardlines Design Co., which is overseeing the dig. She says they'll look for anything that could tell them about the history of the house and the people who lived there.
