QUEENSGATE (FOX19) - Police have released the name of the man who was killed in a homeless camp fire Sunday night.

A passing motorist reported the fire on the 6th Street Viaduct at Mehring Way just after 10:30 Sunday night.

One person was killed in the fire. Police have identified him as 44-year-old William Floyd.

Investigators say the death is not being investigated as foul play. A cause has not yet been determined.

Several man-made structures were destroyed in the fire.

The Greater Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless said in a press conference on Monday that they believe the fire could have been prevented if the city of Cincinnati had opened a cold shelter that evening.
