FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - Turfway Park kicking off its annual holiday meet on Thursday.

It's the start of the four month winter schedule. You can see live racing four days a week: Thursday through Sunday from now until Dec. 21. With the exception of the final week of the month, post time is 5:30 p.m. EST on Thursday and Friday and 1:10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

There will be no live racing Dec. 23, 24, and 25, and then the track will continue its tradition of racing the entire week after Christmas, with first post at 1:10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, Dec. 26-30.

With New Year's Eve falling on Friday this year, Turfway will run at 5:30 p.m. as part of the track's first annual Track Bash New Year's Eve party.

Holiday Meet weekends are highlighted by four stakes, each carrying a $50,000 purse:

Dec. 4 Holiday Inaugural Stakes (fillies and mares 3-years-old and up, 6 furlongs)
Dec. 11 My Charmer Stakes (fillies and mares 3-years-old and up, 1 1/16 miles)
Dec. 18 Prairie Bayou Stakes (3-year-olds and up, 1 1/8 miles)
Dec. 26 Gowell Stakes (2-year-old fillies, 6 furlongs)

Racing scales back to three days in February, March and April.
