Hamilton rape suspect pleads not guilty by reason of insanity

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - A Hamilton man accused of holding a woman in a closet and repeatedly raping her was arraigned Friday morning.

William Manis pled not guilty by reason of insanity and had his bond set at $1 million.

Manis, 44, was arrested Nov. 29 after the woman escaped from the home by jumping out of a two story window and told police what happened.

Manis was indicted Thursday on nine counts of rape and two counts of kidnapping.

Police say Manis was a member of the Aryan Nation, a white supremacist group, and was charged with similar crimes in 1992.
