Bluebirds Land 20th Title, 4 Straight

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - Patrick Towles rushed for five

touchdowns in the first half and Highlands routed Christian County

50-0 to claim the 5A state championship.

Since they have begun preserving records, no player had ever

scored at least four touchdowns in a state championship game.

Towles, a quarterback, also passed for 53 yards for the Bluebirds

(14-1), who won the 5A championship for the third consecutive year.

Towles ended up with 167 yards on 20 carries. Corey Compton had

16 carries for 97 yards and a touchdown.

Christian County (13-2) was not effective on either side of the

ball as they did not get their first down until late in the second

quarter and only had 10 for the game. They had six turnovers for

the game.

Anthony Hickey threw four interceptions.
