HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - A firefighter suffered minor injuries in a fire that crews are calling suspicious.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night in the 200 block of Hensel Place in Hamilton.

The fire started on the back porch. Investigators say the home was vacant and had been boarded up, but broken into by people trying to get out of the cold weather. Crews found empty cigarette packs and beer bottles at the scene.

Crews are calling the fire suspicious because the power was shut off and witnesses said they saw two men running from the home just before the fire was reported.

Damage is reported at about $50,000.

One firefighter suffered a puncture wound to his hand and was treated and released from Fort Hamilton Hospital.
