PINEVILLE, KY. (AP) - Deputies are investigating after a man sold about 160 pounds of bronze tombstone markers and other decor at a Bell County scrap yard.
The Sheriff's Department's David Brock says that investigators are trying to contact family members of the people on the name plates to figure out where they came from. Deputies suspect they are stolen.
Yard owner George Robinson said it's not the first time someone has sold metal from tombstones at the yard. Employees called the sheriff's office as soon as the man left. They know the identity of the man who sold the metal to Robinson Recycle because the law requires scrap yards to take down vital information from sellers.
