CINCINNATI (FOX 19) -- One day after suffering a gruesome knee injury in Pittsburgh, the Cincinnati Bengals place safety Chinedum Ndukwe on the injured reserve list.

Ndukwe becomes the seventh defensive back on the list this season, the 15th player.

Ndukwe leads the secondary in tackles and is tied for fifth on the team with 58. In Sunday's 23-7 loss to Pittsburgh, Ndukwe recorded his first sack of the season. Against Baltimore in Sept. he intercepted Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco. This season Ndukwe also had three passes defensed and a fumble recovery.

He played in 12 games this season, at strong safety and free safety, with five starts. He suffered an unrelated knee and thigh injury in mid-October and didn't play Oct. 31 against Miami.

The fourth year pro is a 2007 graduate of Notre Dame.
