Traffic stop leads to cocaine arrest

JACKSON COUNTY, IN (FOX19)Yesterday afternoon at approximately 2:14 p.m. Tpr. Randel Miller was patrolling I-65 in Jackson County when he stopped a 1997 Toyota Camry near the 51 mile marker southbound for a traffic violation.

During the conversation between Tpr. Miller and the driver of the vehicle, Tpr. Miller became suspicious of the driver and after a search of the vehicle a small amount of cocaine was located.  The driver, 47 year old Robert E. Mitchem, Jr. was subsequently charged with Possession of Cocaine, a Class D Felony and was transported to Jackson County Jail without incident.

Tpr. Miller was assisted at the scene by Troopers James Wells and Neil Beiriger.
