Former Ripley clerk indicted

RIPLEY, OH (FOX19) - Ohio Auditor of State Mary Taylor has announced the indictment of the former utilities clerk for the Village of Ripley.

According to the indictment returned by a Brown County grand jury, Katherine Lang stole $1 million while working for Ripley.

Lang was indicted on three counts of theft in office and seven counts of tampering with records, all felonies. The offenses happened between January of 2006 and October 2009.

"Those who abuse the public's trust and take taxpayer money must be accountable," said Taylor.

No further information will be available from the Auditor of State until a special audit on the Village of Ripley is released later this month.
