COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - A man who was involved in the Bill Erpenbeck scandal has pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.

Steven Michael Skidmore pled guilty Tuesday in federal court to making false statements to a federal agency. He lied about money that was involved in the scandal being buried at Summit Hills Golf Course in Crestview Hills.

The money was found buried in a cooler on the third tee of the course in July 2008.

Investigators believe Skidmore buried the money, then lied about it.

Skidmore could get up to five years in prison when he is sentenced in March.

Bill Erpenbeck is serving a 25 year sentence for bank fraud.
