LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - A Warren County Grand Jury has indicted a man accused of burglarizing as many as 10 homes in the area, and prosecutors say the way he did it should be a lesson for any homeowner.

Ryan Bowman was indicted in Warren County Court and prosecutors say he had a story for homeowners to distract them for his true intentions.

Police say he would tell them he had hit a dog with his car and ask who in town had a dog, a distraction to determine if anyone was home.

Assistant Prosecutor Bruce McGary says that "if no one answered after an extended period of time, then he would in fact break in by breaking a window or something to that effect to gain access to the home."

"This particular case this individual had a story that was believable, but if someone knocks on your door and you don't know them, don't answer the door, or talk to them through the door, through a locked door," says McGary.

Burglaries like these are all too common around the holiday prosecutors say, they say homeowners need to take precautions so they don't become a victim

Bowman is being held in the Warren County Jail on $100,000 bond.
