OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - A Miami University fraternity has been suspended following a party in September that reportedly violated the Code of Student Conduct.
The Mu Upsilon chapter of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity at Miami University allegedly had a party at an off-campus house on September 11 where there was disorderly conduct.
During this party, the University says an underage student became intoxicated, and that the party became so disruptive the Oxford Police Department had to intervene.
An administrative hearing was conducted in the Office of Ethics and Conflict Resolution on Oct. 11. Phi Gamma Delta fraternity was found responsible for the Prohibited Use of Alcohol and Disorderly Conduct.
The fraternity was originally suspended from Miami University for three years. Following an appeals hearing, the suspension was shortened to a year, ending May 30, 2011. If there is any further violation of the Code of Conduct, the suspension will be reinstated to three years.
