Snow, mix, rain headed our way

(FOX19) - A combination of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain is headed our way.

FOX19 Meteorologist Katy Morgan says snow will develop late Monday night in areas west of the city first. By midnight, snow will begin falling in the metro area.

The precipitation will last until the morning commute Tuesday, with a total of 1 inch north of the city, and less to the south. The snow will change into a wintry mix by Tuesday morning, and last through noon. Ice accumulation should be less than one-tenth of an inch.

Light snow and rain will redevelop Tuesday evening, but again, little accumulation is expected.

Slick spots are possible during Tuesday morning's commute, and motorists should use caution. Cincinnati road crews began applying a protective layer of brine to city streets Sunday last night. Brining of primary roadways continued on Monday.

The FOX19 Weather Team is also tracking a system that will move in on Christmas Eve and could potentially affect holiday travel.
