5 injured in crash involving Metro bus, dump truck

RIVERSIDE, OH (FOX19) - Five people, including a child, were injured Wednesday morning when a dump truck rear-ended a Metro bus in Riverside.

It happened around 11:30 a.m. in the 3600 block of River Road, near the intersection with Fithian Street. Eastbound lanes are currently closed, and one lane is open westbound.

Police say the bus slowed down to make a stop, and truck driver went to change lanes, but there was another truck in the other lane. By the time he looked back in front of him, the bus had stopped.

Police originally said seven people riding on the bus were injured, but only five were taken to University Hospital. All of the injuries are non life threatening.

Emergency crews and Metro officials are on the scene.
