Police: Woman abducted from mall, assaulted

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is investigating a case where a woman was abducted from a mall and sexually assaulted.

The 24-year-old victim was leaving Northgate Mall in Colerain Township around 10 p.m. Tuesday night when she was approached by an unknown white male suspect who placed a handgun in her back and forced her into her vehicle.

The suspect then forced the victim to drive around. After about an hour, she was forced to park at the St. James School on Hubble Road, where she was sexually assaulted.

Following the assault, the suspect ordered the victim to go to a PNC Bank to withdraw cash from an ATM, but she convinced him she didn't have any cash.

The suspect got away with $49, the victim's drivers license, cell phone and debit card.

The victim was dropped off at Taylor Elementary on Springdale Road, where the suspect threatened her and her family.

The victim went to a 24-hour laundry service and called 911. Her car was recovered on Wednesday abandoned on Barnesburg Road.

Many shoppers we spoke with told FOX19 they are now thinking twice about their own shopping habits.

"The night before I had been shopping at Toys R Us and Meyer from like 10pm until midnight, after my kids went to bed," said Alison Kursting. "And after my husband told me about this story, I thought, I won't do that again."

Raychelle Brown said she rarely goes shopping at night without her husband.

"I'm always aware of my surroundings," Brown said. "Because you never know what can happen and always around Christmastime it seems to get worse."

Managers from Northgate Mall did not want to comment on the incident or whether they plan to increase security, but just a few weeks ago mall administrators told FOX19 about their Citizens on Patrol program. It allows residents to keep an extra eye out all in an effort to keep you safe this holiday season.

"My heart goes out to {the victim} and her family," said Brown.

The suspect is 150 to 170 pounds with brown hair. He was wearing a ski mask, black nylon jacket, dark blue jeans, black and white gym shoes and he was armed with a black handgun.

Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.

Standing alongside Putin, Trump steered clear of any confrontation with the Russian, going so far as to question American intelligence and last week's federal indictments that accused 12 Russians of hacking into Democratic email accounts to hurt Hillary Clinton in 2016.
