Christmas Day crash between Metro bus, minivan could be alcohol-related
CINCINNATI,OH (FOX19) - Police say a crash that killed a man and injured a 6-month-old baby could be alcohol-related.
The accident happened at 7 a.m. Christmas Day in the 7900 block of Anthony Wayne Avenue.
Police say minivan was heading south on Anthony Wayne Avenue and the bus was heading North. The van crossed left of center, the bus tried to swerve to miss the van but it was unsuccessful.
The driver of the van, 30-year-old Belarmino Bartolon, was pronounced dead after being transported to University Hospital.
The driver of the Metro Bus, Juanita L. Jones, was treated at the scene with minor injuries.
A woman and her two children were also on the bus. Jessica Johnson and her son, Benjamin Sarbak, were not injured in the crash. However, Johnson's 6-month-old son was taken to Children's Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
Sgt. Bill Combs believes the 6-month-old was hurt "from the jolt that the mother was holding the child on the bus and we don't know if the baby completely slipped out of her arms to the floor or just hit the bench on front of her."
